Technical Director Roles and Responsibilities

The Technical Director is:

• not an officer of the Board of Directors;
• not a member of the Board of Directors;
• hired by the Executive Director;
• managed by and reports to the Executive Director;
• the person who serves as the Chief Technical Officer of the organization;
• a partner with the Executive Director in achieving the organization's mission;
• the chairperson of technical committee and encourages Board's role in strategic planning;
• primary architect of technical fulfillment;
• responsible for the current and future needs of the organization; and
• responsible for the technical budget line items.

• Maintain production equipment
  • Sound Stage: Lights, Cameras, Wiring, Audio Equipment, etc
  • Control Room: Switcher, Character Generator, Recorders, Mixer, Audio Processing, Wiring, etc
  • Camera Kits: Cameras, Tripods, Batteries, etc
• Maintain editing equipment
  • Editing systems
  • Software licenses
  • Hardware connections
• Maintain office equipment
  • Computers, software, backups, printer, etc
• Maintain head-end equipment.
  • Connection to Northland Cable Television Equipment
  • Signal Routing
  • Signal Sources: Satellite, VHS Recorder, Media Server
• Maintain Internet infrastructure
  • Studio wired and wireless Internet access
  • Remote administration, SVN Backup, control
  • Websites & Email
  • Business Database
  • Telephone system & Communications Server
  • Live streaming & Streaming Server
• Backup systems and procedures
• Evaluate new technologies
• Provide media consultation services
• Develop and manage yearly technical budget for maintenance and improvements
• Develop multi-year plan for media services
